Energy and Water Efficiency – Moonee Valley
The Project
Moonee Valley City Council and a collective of local businesses turned to CarbonetiX to reduce energy and water use across the district. The results were brilliant:
- Civic Centre and Merrifield Library 24% energy reduction
- The Clocktower Centre 24% energy reduction
- Kellaway Avenue Neighbourhood Centre 45% water use reduction
- Queens Park Bowls Club 30% water use reduction
- Kellaway Avenue Neighbourhood Centre 45% water use reduction
The Process
CarbonetiX undertook audits of six buildings in the precinct project, highlighting savings that could be made. These measures includes HVAC optimisation, energy management coaching and lighting upgrades.
Sustainability officer Hugh Butcher says:
“I believe in the two pronged approach – behaviour change and implementation. It is a combination – not one or the other. They go hand in hand. It has made the staff aware of the difference they can make.”
Moonee Valley City Council was thrilled to learn that their Green Precinct Project won a United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) World Environment Day Award.
CarbonetiX is proud to have been involved in such a successful project and congratulates Hugh and the team for achieving these great results.
From the client
“As you can see we are making some big cuts to our emissions, and I truly believe that it’s a result of the relationship that has been established between council and CarbonetiX.”
- Hugh Butcher, Sustainability Officer
